WICKED PLANTS - A SUITE OF BOTANICAL PRINTS
By Briony Morrow-Cribbs

This spring Algonguin Press will publish the book Wicked Plants, author Amy Stewart's A through Z of plants that kill, maim, intoxicate, & otherwise offend. Artist Briony Morrow-Cribbs was commissioned to create illustrations for the book, including 40 etchings. In conjunction with the book's publication, and an exhibition of the artwork at the Brooklyn Botanical Museum this summer, Briony is printing and issuing 20 complete sets of the etchings, with introductions by her and Stewart, housed in a custom-made traycase.

Wicked Plants - A Suite of Botanical Prints will be comprised of the 40 etchings printed on Magnani Pescia (images measuring 8 x 9 inches, on sheets 11 x 12.5 inches), each one signed, numbered and titled by the artist. The title page, introductions and colophon will be set and printed letterpress at Heavenly Monkey on dampened Magnani Pescia. The sheets will be wrapped in a heavy paper jacket, and laid into a traycase made by Claudia Cohen, with a small etching inlaid to the front. Each set will be numbered and signed by the artist on the colophon. In addition, Morrow-Cribbs will color one complete set of the prints and break this into 20 pairs, one for each of the portfolios in the edition. Thus, each portfolio will contain two colored etchings, each pair unique to the portfolio.

The portfolio will be issued by Cat Skinner Press, priced as follows:
  Copies 1 - 5: $2,500.00
  Copies 6 - 10: $4,000.00
  Copies 11 - 15: $6,000.00
Copies 16 - 20 will be held in reserve
