Vancouver 1949-62 Montreal New York & New Haven Vancouver Redux News & Notes |
| Planned as five volumes, but expanding to six, this is Robert's own account of his life's work and interests. His interest in capturing this material was sparked by the 2001 bibliography of his work, Reid's Leaves. Like this Web site, each volume focuses on a particular period and location: 1 - Vancouver (issued with a separate Addendum); 2 - Montreal (two vols); 3 - New York (two vols); 4 - New Haven (2 vols); 5 - Printed Ephemera (two vols); and 6 - Addendum to Vol 5: Automobile Advertisemments 1908-67 (two vols). In addition to Robert's extensive text, the memoirs include hundreds of reproduced samples of his own and others' graphic work, many fold-outs, tip-ins, etc.
Edition runs varied from 15 - 20. The entire project was initially conceived as subscription only, and a number of university special collections libraries have the set, including the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, McGill University, Yale University, University of Calgary, University of Alberta, and the Thomas Fisher Rare Books Library in Toronto.
Description: Large octavo (8.5 x 11 inches), each volume over 200 pp. Uniformly bound in natural linen, and issued with matching slipcase. All printing was done on Canon and Xerox digital printers.
Issue price: varied by volume, but ranged from C$750-$850 (all volumes OP)
